                    Govt. sr. Sec. School,Sakyong,  was established in the year 1947 under the initiative of Shri Chewang Rinzing Kazi( Retd. D.S.P). In support and realisation  of the vision set by Shri Chewang Rinzing Kazi to set up a school,  two  big hearted persons Mrs. Uden Kazani and late Babu Ram Rai jointly gifted a huge plot of their land  which led to the establishment of one roomed  school structure. The school was completely run by Committee comprising the few village heads and chieftan. The school used to obtain patronage from it including salary of the teachers. Shri Chewang Rinzing Kazi and Shri Shri Kharka Bahadur Khatiwoda were the President and Secretary respectively when the First School Committee was formed in the year 1947. The committee found in Shri Rinchen Bhutia, a resident of Sakyong Yagten, to sow the seeds of education in the first year of its inception. In the following years, Shri Dhan Raj Rai and Shri Harka Man Subba served the school as a teacher. It was in the year in the year 1956 the school was taken over by the Education Department as a full fledged government school.

                    Since, its inception the school has evolved continuously and was upgraded to Junior High School in the year 1961, twenty years later, i.e., in 1981 the school was again upgraded to the Secondary Level. In the year 2017, it was upgraded to Senior Secondary Level.

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), and hence implements the curriculum  prescribed by the Board, and offers education from pre primary to Plus Two Level  with Humanities and Commerce stream at Senior Secondary Stage.
